Homemade Dog Biscuits
We love our doggies don’t we. So here’s a recipe for Homemade Dog Biscuits, a recipe made by the lovely Freya
We bake and cook so much for ourselves don’t we?
So why wouldn’t we do it for our doggies?
Look at the lovely Freya making them
Are homemade Dog Biscuits good for your dog?
When you make ‘dog treats’ at home once thing you can be sure of is the ingredients
These homemade ones do not contain any dangerous additives, antibiotics, mold, Etc etc
Whilst not all bought dog treats have the potential to be bad for your dog, one thing I can guarantee is these homemade versions are an easy, effective, and healthy way to treat, reward and love your doggie – no worries 🙂
Dog statistics
I was interested in looking at the stats for Dog owners and something I read somewhere said 49% of UK adults own a pet.
25% of the UK adults have a cat with an estimated population of 11.1 million pet cats.
24% of the UK adult population have a dog with an estimated population of 8.9 million pet dogs.
Woozers…… that’s a lot of lovely lovely dogs.
And more staggeringly the value of dog treats market in the United Kingdom (UK) from in 2017 was ÂŁ449 Million – flipping heck!
So let’s make our own Dog Biscuits
So why not bake them some delicious Homemade Dog biscuits and let us know how you get on!
Gosh I would love some dog pics with their biscuits! Please please I could pop them all around this post 🙂
Recipe for Dog Biscuits
The recipe is below at the bottom of this post, please remember you can also add other ingredients too
Other Optional Ingredients
- 1 cup of oats to make even more healthy,
- Dried parsley – full of vitamins, good for digestion and helps to make your doggies breath smell good.
- 1 cup of cooked and mashed up courgettes/pumpkins/squashes – really healthy veggie cookies – these could be substituted instead of the peanut butter!
And while you’re baking doggie biscuits maybe bake some human biscuits at the same time.
Not made of humans obviously, but how about some Retro Chocolate Chip Cookies
Let me know how you go…..
Thanks Clare
Homemade Dog Biscuits
Ingredients
- 1 tub of peanut butter
- 2 cups whole wheat flour you could use a non wheat flour like rice if your dog has an allergy
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons honey optional
- 1 egg optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
- Put all ingredients in a bowl and mix up to a dough.
- Roll out onto a floured surface - not too thin! cut out with dog bone cutter. (or improvise)
- Place on greased baking tray and cook for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool.
- My doggies love them so they don't last long but they can be stored in an airtight container for a week.
- In the fridge for about 3 weeks or in the freezer for longer.
